Of course there are different styles of necks and people like different things, but all other things being equal that's pretty much true. Generally speaking, the higher up the range the model of guitar is, the more care and attention will have be spent on the construction of the neck and the better it will feel. The most important parts of the guitar are the neck and electronics, the former for playability and the latter for sound. my Washburn idol from 2004 has the same feel in the neck from World Music.2.) How does a nice guitar sound better than a 100dollar cheap samick thing? The Necks in Korea I have noticed are always well rounded over and feel like home. The Samick with a small amount of work will play as good as both imho.
the SG-62 has the overwrap on the stop tail and the strings feel like 7's. the SG-62 and the '76 play totally different. I wanted to try the narrow nut and I love it. But after a re-fret and changing the knobs and poker chip and adding Vinham T-tops. disco era?) and had a toggle for phase perhaps. the '76 was purchased low cost as it had a broken headstock in its past and had been refinished to the satin walnut. so I don't have to drag the relics around. this Samick is most likely going to be my winter home guitar. I may only change the switch.Ĭlick to expand.LOL. Mini-pots i had to shoot some de-ox into but are working fine. This one does not and the NATO grain is excellent on this one. I have seen a few of these with scarf joints in the neck. Much better than the Epi's I have tried in the past, but the headstock has got to be 1-2 inches longer than the SG Standards. Shout out to PermissionToLand for recommending these. Very happy with this and gives me another project over the winter. The rounded sides of the neck feels great and it has some heft at 7 lbs 6 ounces.
Does need a slight fret level as my rocker found a few spots to massage. Neck is thin but not wafer thin like my SG-62. i may take the knobs off and grease the bushings a bit with lithium. The frets are in great shape, tuners were replaced with Grovers and the G and B tuners are STICKY. I had to find an old Epi 3.5mm aged tip and fill it will super glue and drill out the 3.0mm hole and tap it for threads. Only a few issues, as it has one ding of the classic "fell of the strap" type on bottom and the switch tip was missing. For the price delivered under 2 bills, i am a happy camper. Ran across it online and it stared at me for days until i bought it. Finally pulled the trigger on the ultimate SG copy few weeks ago.
